If you have been keeping an eye on the news recently then you will know all about the huge fiasco surrounding the buying of tickets to events in the London 2012 Olympics. The main issue was the fact that two thirds of the amount of people who had applied for tickets for different events were left with no tickets at all. In the first round, only seven hundred thousand people were successful in buying tickets, whilst some people actually applied for many, got them all and ended up not being able to afford them.

According to the figures that were released, there were almost two million people who had applied for tickets in the first round, and one point two million of those people were left empty handed. Fortunately, in the second round of tickets another two point three million tickets were sold. However, sports fans, athletes and families of athletes competing in the Olympics were left furious after all of the tickets had sold out. A lot of people are unhappy that the majority of the tickets that are left are actually for football matches rather than the main events.

Chaos was right around the corner though, after it was announced that the next amount of tickets would work on a first come first served basis, and those who had missed out in the first round would be given priority over others. Olympic organisers have had to apologize after members of the public were in uproar over the fiasco that had emerged over the selling of tickets for different events in the London 2012 Olympics.

If you want to go to see any events in the London Olympics then there are some things that you need to be aware of first. The most important thing to think about is how you can make sure that you are buying tickets the safe way. The first thing to remember is that you should only be buying tickets from the official London 2012 Olympics website. There is only one official website, so this is the only one to go to. Another way to apply is via paper. You can get the form from several different places such as Lloyd TSB branches. The good thing about this is that if you get a ticket that you can’t use because you cannot get to the event then you can actually get a refund.

Do not buy from any other website other than the official site. If you do, then you are putting yourself at a very high risk of getting scammed, which is something that no one wants to happen to them. There are some sites that are able to sell you tickets to events as a part of a package holiday deal. The only three sites that are actually authorised to do this are Thomas Cook, Jet Set Travel, and Prestige Travel. Any other company offering you tickets with a package is not authorised to sell tickets to anyone, so companies like this should definitely be avoided.

Something else that you should remember is that scam websites are going to be set up, as this is something that happens regularly with events like this. There are several ways that you can tell if a website is fake or not. For example, if the content is full of spelling and grammatical errors then it is very likely to be fake. If the pictures are blurry, or you have seen them elsewhere before then again, it is probably fake. If you do happen to come across a website then you should definitely report it to officials so that they can remove it before anyone falls into the trap.

However, the internet is not the only worry here. As we get closer to the Olympics, you are going to get more and more scammers who will approach you in the street, especially if you are in London. The thing to remember is that these people are not authorised to sell these tickets. There are several ways that they may try to convince you to buy a ticket from them. For example, they may tell you that they are only selling the ticket because they cannot make the event. This is a lie, because if you cannot make an even then you can get a refund, as stated above. Another thing that you might notice is people offering ridiculously low prices. Again, this is just to convince you to buy things from them, but these tickets will definitely be fakes.

As you can see, there are a lot of important things to remember when you are buying tickets for things like the London Olympics. Security is high, and if you end up with a fake ticket then you are not going to get into any of the events even if you did not know that the ticket was fake. This is why it is always a good idea to make sure that the tickets that you are buying for any kind of event are one hundred per cent legitimate.

If you do happen to come across a fake ticket then there are a few things that you can do. The first thing that you should do is report it to officials so that they can trace the source and stop more fake tickets being sold around the country. Once you have done this, the organisers may tell you what you can do with it, or they might tell you to take it to the police who will take the matter into their own hands and find out who is responsible for selling fraudulent tickets.
